Track 2 @ Peer Gynt Field Development
15:00 - 15:30 Shah Deniz - Caspian Sea
Alan Edwards
Shah Deniz is BP's largest offshore gas-condensate discovery to date and is situated in the land-locked Caspian Sea off the coast of Azerbaijan. For the Stage 2 development, BP is planning 26 High-Pressure Subsea wells, 12 manifolds with integral HIPP systems and ~500km of pipelines with significant use of new technology to manage pressures and flowrates at the limit of industry experience. At ~$20bn CAPEX this project is currently one of the largest in BP's project portfolio. We will describe the field architecture drivers and challenges, the extensive subsea technology development programme, construction challenges and our work with key suppliers, for development of Azerbaijan's first subsea production development and opening up of the Southern corridor for delivering gas to Europe.
