16:30 - 17:00 Ormen Lange Subsea Compression
Pascal Montoulives
The Ormen Lange gas field is located 120 km West-Northwest of Kristiansund. The field has been in production since 2007 with a maximum production rate of approx. 70 MSm3/d. The field is located within a prehistoric slide area, the Storegga slide, with varying water depths from 800 down to 1100 m. Production is by subsea wells co - mingling into two 30” multiphase pipelines to the onshore processing plant in Nyhamna. Infield compression is required in order to increase pressure in the export lines and maintain gas production from the field and maximize reserves recovery. The subsea compression station will be powered by a long step-out power supply system, providing about 30 MW through a 120km long cable to shore. The Ormen Lange subsea compression project presents unique challenges with regards to complex subsea processing and high voltage equipment. Study work has been ongoing for several years, and significant progress has been made. The project is now maturing and selection of final main equipment and design is approaching. This paper/presentation describes the main design requirements as seen today and how it is currently implemented.
