Intelligent digital tools to optimize marginal field developments

Operators are leaving no stone unturned in looking for maximum value from new deep-water oil and gas developments, whilst complying with regulatory constraints. Whether it be through innovative contracting strategies, or choice of enabling technologies to maximize production and minimize emissions; operators are collaborating more and being more open to sharing data with suppliers, in accordance the value can be generated.

Suppliers too are innovating in the smart use of data to enable greater collaboration with operators. Although suppliers remain the experts on their technology and equipment; they are often reluctant or unable to share their price and performance models with operators directly, due to the potential for this to reduce direct dialogue and unintentionally eliminate good opportunities; either for commercial or technical reasons.

A number of innovations around supplier-operator collaboration have taken place in recent years, which have started to break down these barriers.

In the area of sharing performance models, One Subsea has developed the JustBoost web application for subsea boosting and compression applications. The tool allows the operator to download a representative lift table that can be used by operators in a simulation to model the performance of the pump or compressor and therefore confirm the technical feasibility, together with the production potential.

In the area of sharing price models, One Subsea has developed a collaboration with third-party data companies, who can provide representative data to allow early stage screening workflows to be executed, either using One Subsea digital tools directly, or via an early engagement service.
