As the production on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) is on decline, the ability to develop marginal subsea tiebacks becomes very important. This presentation explores the innovative strategies and technologies employed to unlock the potential of these marginal fields, with a particular focus on the experiences gained from the Skarv field.
In order to extend the lifetime of existing infrastructure, it is crucial that the industry can maximize resource recovery from smaller discoveries. The Skarv field, operated by Aker BP has organized smaller developments as a portfolio project, reducing CAPEX through synergies and accelerating time to first oil/gas.
Additionally, moving forward it is crucial that the industry can achieve significant cost savings and faster project timelines using scalable low-cost concepts and reusable equipment.
The presentation will delve into the technical and operational lessons learned from these projects, emphasizing the need for continuous innovation and strategic planning.
