The Maria development project was executed in an economically challenging time and the operator Wintershall had to turn every stone to make the development a success. The project was delivered almost a year ahead of schedule and significantly below budget.
The presentation will explore some of the work that was undertaken to “undercut” the usual cost in development, construction and installation. Some examples are; the use of a dual derrick rig despite a heavy BOP, which was made possible due to smart fatigue reduction solutions; and a remote controlled well-commissioning from onshore saving time, cost and the environment.
The above and several additional efforts, combined with outstanding collaboration with the suppliers, contributed to making the Maria development project a success.
