Day 2 of UTC 2025 brought a strong close to an inspiring and beautiful week in Bergen. The program was packed with high-quality presentations, exhibitors, parallel sessions, and the much-anticipated Young Talents Award. Let’s check out the highlights of the day.
After a coffee-fueled start at the EXPO, the morning opened with insights from industry leaders. Paula Doyle of Aker BP explored the future of digitalization, followed by Equinor’s Mette Ottøy, who made a strong case for unlocking value through collaboration. Imran Abdul-Majid of Northern Lights JV highlighted how to scale CCS safely and cost-efficiently, while John Macleod from OneSubsea included the session with a vision for a new subsea era.

One of the most anticipated sessions of the day was the Young Talent segment. Maria Vassilev, Elias Nilsson, Ashish Loomba, and Emil Carlunger impressed the audience with advanced research on multiphase metering, produced water management, and cathodic protection systems. Their fresh perspectives and technical depth underscored the strength of the next generation in subsea technology. With this, we are certain that the future of our industry is in capable hands!
The afternoon offered a deep dive into technical content, with parallel sessions covering marginal fields, innovation, and digitalization. Speakers from across the industry – including Aker BP, TechnipFMC, OneSubsea, DeepOcean, SINTEF, 4Subsea, and others – shared the latest advances in areas such as subsea tiebacks, unmanned operations, digital instrumentation, and more. The energy in each room reflected the urgency and enthusiasm for shaping a smarter subsea future.
The Young Talent Award 2025 was presented to Emil Carlunger for outstanding work in developing cathodic protection simulations during his internship at Aker Solutions. The creativity and hard work of all young professionals symbolize the spirit of innovation that UTC strives to nurture. We wish them the very best in their promising careers. Congratulations to all participants for raising the bar!
