Use of a universal digital design and visualisation platform for subsea energy projects from Concept to Decommissioning

This paper will look at the integration and collaboration of different data sets, applications and user profiles throughout the full life of an offshore field and present a solution to provide a single visualisation platform for all users and use cases.

An integrated data and visualisation platform can pull together disparate data from multiple sources and display the different data in the context ensuring that high quality data is available and aligned for specific use cases such as creation of field layouts, flow assurance studies, operational integrity investigations, field life extension studies and decommissioning.

Each phase of a project from initial exploration through early and detailed engineer, execution, operations and decommissioning requires different datasets and this data must be aligned and contextualised to provide the user with the required data for the task at the required time. Some data such as live operational data, tag information, integrity status, etc. may only be required for specific phases.

With the increasing focus on brownfield extensions, the need to have as-installed documentation and data as well as the latest integrity information is critical to allow field development engineers to design their system taking into account existing interfaces, loading and failed or degraded equipment.

This paper covers the design, features and use cases of an open visualisation and data platform managing multiple data models for both traditional upstream and also carbon capture, wind, wave and other energy transition projects including combinations of these such as electrification projects.
