Day 1 proved to be a captivating day, featuring an impressive lineup of keynote speakers and panel discussions. Let’s dive into the highlights of this exciting day.
The highly anticipated UTC Conference 2023 kicked off in style on its first day, bringing together tech enthusiasts, industry leaders, and visionaries from around the globe. Held in Grieghallen, this year’s conference explored groundbreaking technologies, potential great collaborations and shaped the future of the ever-evolving tech landscape.
The first day of the UTC Conference 2023 underscored the urgency of addressing the energy trilemma and the importance of collaborative efforts to accelerate progress. Thought-provoking discussions on decision-making authority, the subsea industry’s role, and the need for increased momentum served as a clear call to action.
DNV emphasized the urgent need for transformative action within the subsea sector. Their presentation unveiled a harsh reality: the current progress towards achieving the target of 55% carbon emissions reduction by 2023 stands at a mere 25%. DNV underscored two key focus areas for the subsea industry: Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and power from shore. These initiatives hold immense potential in reducing carbon emissions and promoting environmentally friendly energy solutions.
An intriguing question emerged during the conference: “Who holds the ultimate decision-making authority on the Norwegian Continental Shelf – Equinor or the government?” This thought-provoking query ignited passionate debates as representatives from both sides presented their perspectives. This crucial conversation emphasized the need for collaboration and open dialogue to maximize the potential of the NCS and optimize outcomes for all stakeholders.
Day 1 also featured an exciting array of product showcases and exhibitions. A mix of tech giants, suppliers and operators presented their latest innovations, providing a glimpse into the future of technology. We are happy to hear from enthusiastic exhibitors that they have formed valuable connections and potential partnerships throughout the day.
In addition to the captivating sessions and exhibitions, the UTC Conference 2023 is a big arena for networking and relationship-building.These interactions may pave the way for potential collaborations that could revolutionize the technological landscape in the coming years.
In the evening, attendees were treated to a memorable conference dinner at the prestigious “Spissen” in Grieghallen. Attendees reveled in an evening of fine dining, entertainment, and further solidifying the conference’s mission of fostering unity and collaboration.
